Every day at least one song - Week # 9 (March 24, 2025)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Monday, March 24, 2025:

Well well, I am late with my entry for the day, but it’s still Monday, or at least where I am. I have been preparing for an interview with my friend Marco, who runs No Front Teeth Records in London, UK. An interview just about his art is forthcoming on this website, but the interview focusing on the label is planned for Razorcake. Today’s song appeared on one of the earliest NFT releases, a CD compilation entitled “Global Hostility” from 2002. Les Baton Rouge hail from Portugal and are my most recent discovery, albeit a bit late;-).

The early Vancouver punk scene gifted the world with some tremendous acts, including the Subhumans, D.O.A., the Modernettes, Dishrags and of course the Pointed Sticks. The Pointed Sticks are still going strong and with “Igor Said” they are paying homage to magical times at the Smilin’ Buddha with not just a brilliant song, but an equally touching video. I honestly don’t know who Igor is, but maybe someone out there can let me know. Happy Tuesday!

Wednesday, March 26, 2025:

Just about to finish reading Ned Hayden’s book Scene Loser. Ned fronted the Action Swingers, a band I had no knowledge of until I read his book. I suppose I will have to dig deeper into their recorded catalogue, but the book’s a quick and fun read. Here a song off of their first 7” and with that good night folks!

Thursday, March 27, 2025:

Andrew, who is responsible for the wonderful Misfits entry on this website emailed me from China, where he is currently visiting. He’s absolutely right in the sense that the western World, and in particular the United States is treating China like the biggest threat to civilization. Well, I think we better have a closer look at ourselves and our actions. Speaking of China though this Men Without Hats hit came to my mind, the perfect soundtrack for today me thinks. Happy Thursday!

Friday, March 28, 2025:

Rock’N’Roll doesn’t know any borders, and Zivio Rock’N’Roll is proof of that as deep during Tito’s reign of ex-Yugoslavia they recorded some outstanding NWOBHM and pub rock influenced records. With that long live good music no matter from where in the world, and everyone have a great Friday!

Saturday, March 29, 2025:

Mega City Four were a four-piece from Hampshire in the UK. I only ever owned one record by them, the outstanding single on Decoy from 1989 with two equally strong pop punk smashers. Guitarist and lead singer Wiz sadly passed away back in 2006, may he rest in peace. Enjoy your Saturday!

Sunday, March 30, 2025:

Hell, another week has just flown by in a minute and it’s bloody Sunday yet again. I’ve been discovering more and more about R.L. Burnside, a blues musician that probably never received the recognition he deserved until very late in his career thanks to signing with Fat Possum Records. I’ll have to grab some of those releases and so should you. Have a great Sunday!
