Every day at least one song - Week # 8 (March 17, 2025)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Today is St. Patrick’s Day, hence I thought I better post a song with a reference to Ireland. Thin Lizzy formed in Dublin in 1969, fronted by their charismatic bass guitarist Phil Lynott. Whiskey in the Jar is one of their international hits and an ideal start to the new week me thinks. Happy Paddy’s Day everyone!

Violent Way from Buffalo, NY where this loser lives, have been around for some time. They have been over to Europe several times, have two albums out with a new one in the making, and are currently touring the United States with New York old timers Murphy’s Law and Agnostic Front, the same package that recently toured Europe. If you are out there in the vast lands of this country and have a chance to catch these local lads, please do so as you won’t be disappointed. Oi Oi Oi and happy Tuesday!

Nikki Hill and her band are currently touring in Europe, and so I thought I post a song of hers as I would love to see the band live on stage but it’s more likely you see this exciting act in Europe than here in Buffalo, NY. In recent years I have come across her name and band, but never really looked much beyond that. Still, the lady has an incredible voice and the band’s modern take on blues and soul has me hooked. Again, for people across the pond, check if the band plays your town! Happy Wednesday!!

I don’t think the Avengers need any introduction or I fear that you’ve otherwise lived under a rock for decades. I saw the band on their European tour back in 2006, and to this day it’s one of my favorite gigs I have ever witnessed. There are so many great songs to pick from when it comes to the band’s catalogue, but “End of the World” might very well be my favorite. Looking at the current state of the world and society the song unfortunately couldn’t come any closer to truth. Still, happy Thursday!!

Friday, March 21, 2025:

Spring is officially here although one couldn’t tell outside as the temperatures are falling again here in Buffalo, NY. Let’s just hope snow doesn’t find us again. With the Easybeats’ great ‘60s hit things should fall into place today though, or at least that’s the hope. As you might know the band London from London (how original) covered this song years later after its release when punk broke, and did a good job with it. Happy Friday, happy Spring!!

Saturday, March 22, 2025:

Well, lots of talk about the state of our crappy government every day. I just wish people would be equally critical about the other side when they are in power. But then again, that’s the main problem of a two-party system as it’s a blame game back and forth. Anyhow, time to lift our mood with some great pop punk by a band that masters the art of mixing pop melodies with punk rock, the good ole’ Dickies. Happy Saturday!

Sunday, March 23, 2025:

Lead vocalist and keyboard player Larry Tamblyn of the ‘60s band The Standells has passed away at the age of 82. Needless to say they were one of the most important bands garage rock acts of their time and it is often cited that they influenced many early punk rock acts later during the ‘70s, something I don’t disagree with. Here their probably biggest hit, “Dirty Water”. Happy Sunday!
